Since the 1990s, cough drop addiction has come to the public’s attention and has become a serious social problem as most of the addicts are teenagers, especially high school students. The codeine in cough drops (compound codeine phosphate oral solution) has a central cough suppressant effect, which is a good helper for treating severe dry cough. On the morning of August 10, a reporter from Southern Metropolis News interviewed Tang Jihua, director of the Department of Psychology, on the topic of cough syrup abuse addiction, who introduced in detail the treatment mechanism and significant effects of ultra-fast detoxification under general anesthesia, while emphasizing the complete cure of addiction with subsequent psychotherapy. Since 2007, our department has treated more than 2,900 patients with UROD, of which 70% to 80% have not relapsed within one year, which has formed a mature treatment system for addictive mental diseases.
