Are you addicted to cough syrup?

Since the 1990s, cough drop addiction has come to the public’s attention and has become a serious social problem as most of the addicts are teenagers, especially high school students. The codeine in cough drops (compound codeine phosphate oral solution) has a central cough suppressant effect, which is a good helper for treating severe dry cough. On the morning of August 10, a reporter from Southern Metropolis News interviewed Tang Jihua, director of the Department of Psychology, on the topic of cough syrup abuse addiction, who introduced in detail the treatment mechanism and significant effects of ultra-fast detoxification under general anesthesia, while emphasizing the complete cure of addiction with subsequent psychotherapy. The reporter then interviewed two post-operative cough drop addiction patients in our department to further understand the addiction situation. “Our method of quitting addiction is, simply put, the ‘Mind Home Ultra-Fast Detoxification’ method.” Director Tang Jihua explained to the reporter, “‘Mind Home Ultra-Fast Detox’ is a treatment based on UROD, combined with psychological intervention, starting with two levels of physical health and spiritual health, and carried out from multiple perspectives such as individual, family and society. Through all aspects of treatment and services, it helps patients feel family-like warmth here, not only rehabilitating their bodies but also repairing their minds, while adjusting behavioral habits and improving family relationships, returning patients to a happy and harmonious family.” Director Tang Jihua further explained that UROD is “Ultra Rapid Detoxification under General Anesthesia” and introduced that this is the only professional treatment method for addiction treatment pioneered by the psychology department in China – Ultra Rapid Detoxification under General Anesthesia. Since 2007, our department has treated more than 2,900 patients with UROD, of which 70% to 80% have not relapsed within one year, which has formed a mature treatment system for addictive mental diseases.
