A new concept of mental health

With the progress of society, people’s understanding of health is not only limited to the absence of physical diseases, but more focused on the overall health of body and mind. The World Health Organization’s concept of health includes three aspects: ① no physical disease; ② no mental illness (mental health); ③ social function is intact. Mental health includes three aspects: 1. Good self-awareness: objective, scientific and accurate evaluation of oneself – including the ability to know oneself in terms of intelligence, emotional intelligence, personality, character and mental condition; self-love and self-esteem – mainly refers to the ability to be pleased with oneself, cherish life and reputation; and self-reliance. Self-sufficiency and self-improvement – having a goal to strive for, neither blindly exaggerating nor depreciating oneself. 2. Good social function: Survival ability – to find one’s role and exist in both natural and social environments; learning or working ability – the ability to move from imitation to thinking to creation; interpersonal ability — in the family, school or unit, all parts of society to be good interpersonal interaction. 3, good coping skills: for the objective environmental pressure – to be able to actively obtain more information from the outside world, seek outside help, improve problem-solving skills; for the subjective mental frustration – to be able to change their values, learn to relaxation.
