Gout cannot be ruled out and prompt medical attention is recommended. Gout is a disease related to purine metabolism, where large deposits of uric acid salts in the tissues can cause acute joint pain. Patients presenting with wrist pain on top of high uric acid should be examined to rule out other causes of the presentation to determine if the symptom is caused by urate deposition.
