To maintain men’s health, the hospital should be the first stop Wang Baoqing of the Men’s Department of Wuhu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital October 28, 2015, is the 16th World Men’s Health Day. The theme of Men’s Health Day, co-sponsored by the Chinese Sexuality Society, the Chinese Medical Association Men’s Branch, Health News and Popular Health Magazine and supported by Pfizer China, was held in Beijing on October 25. Professor Jiang Hui, chairman of the Chinese Medical Association’s Men’s Branch and director of Peking University Third Hospital’s Male Center, pointed out that although China’s public knowledge of sexual health has reached a high level, the traditional culture of tonic, the lack of privacy protection of the consultation environment and the experience of being deceived, many patients are reluctant to use formal hospitals as the first channel of treatment. The report “Chinese citizens’ sexual well-being survey” released on October 25 shows that 64.54% of respondents understand that cardiovascular disease is related to “sexual well-being”, 80.57% of people recognize that smoking and drinking have a greater impact on sexual function, and 72.62% know that mental depression affects sexual health. In contrast, in the treatment of impotence, the main disease that affects the quality of sexual life, more than 90% of the surveyed people use herbal medicine to treat themselves, while only 6.97% of them receive regular hospital treatment. 86.44% of people value high quality sex life The Chinese Society of Sexuality and the Chinese Medical Association’s Branch of Male Science conducted a survey on the sexual well-being of Chinese citizens this year and received a total of 72,377 survey results. The survey participants are mainly people with high school education and above, office workers account for 57.64%, but also heavy manual laborers, students, retirees, etc.; 84.83% of respondents aged 26 to 55 years old; men account for about 2/3. The survey results show that more than 43% of people reduce the frequency of sex due to various pressures, even if their spouses or partners show strong demand. 42.56% still choose to turn a blind eye; 18.59% choose to have as much sex as possible; only 38% choose to have regular sex life. “Too much or too little sex life is not scientific, sexual happiness should also be about the middle.” Jiang Hui said that a regular sex life will neither harm the body because of indulgence, nor cause related diseases because of too little sex. The survey shows that 86.44% of people believe that a high-quality sex life is an important factor in family harmony and makes them look forward to life. It is worth mentioning that in terms of factors affecting the quality of sex life, although men and women have different perceptions, more than 83% of both men and women speak of male erectile hardness as the most critical factor, while the proportion of those who choose the length of a single sexual encounter is relatively low. Less than half of men believe in professional medical care The survey showed that 75.15% of people said they could not get a quality sex life. In the urban population, about 68 million men suffer from erectile dysfunctional diseases. Poor lifestyle habits caused by mental depression and other factors, such as insomnia, staying up late, smoking and alcohol abuse, are important causes of low quality sex life. Jiang Hui said that psychological and mental factors leading to male sexual dysfunction is not treated in a timely manner, bringing a great burden to patients and leading to fertility problems, mental illness and family break-ups of up to 50% or more. The vast majority of men intervene on their own when they experience low libido and erectile difficulties. According to the survey, about 80% of them choose fitness intervention, followed by dietary intervention, taking health products, Chinese medicine and Western medicine. In the survey, less than 47% of men said they were willing to trust medical professionals, and as many as 33.05% of men said they questioned the treatment plan given by experts and chose to use their own medicine or go to some unregulated medical institutions. More than 11% of people encountered irregular treatment The survey shows that more than 90% of patients are using secret recipes and advertised herbal medicines to treat related diseases on their own; 11.65% of men have experienced irregular treatment. This all contributes to a certain extent to the low rate of consultation for men’s health diseases. Forty-one percent of the men said that the fear of meeting acquaintances and the open and non-private consultation environment made them reluctant to go to formal hospitals. The second hospital of Harbin Medical University urologist Zhang Chunying introduced a male patient less than 40 years old, watched a TV commercial to a hospital to receive treatment, has done three surgeries, spending 150,000 yuan, the effect is still not obvious, the doctor told to continue to treat the prostate disease. After feeling duped, he went back to the regular hospital for treatment and spent more than 10,000 yuan, which was not long before he got significantly better. In this regard, Wang Baoqing, a male specialist at Wuhu City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Anhui Province, said that for some public hospitals to rent out or contract departments and the existence of irregular treatment in some private hospitals, the state should increase its investigation and combat efforts to ensure a standardized and orderly environment for male patients. The survey also shows that the main channels for the public to obtain sexual health knowledge, including the Internet, books and “self-exploration”, the proportion of more than 56%; from medical institutions and other professional channels to obtain sexual health knowledge is very little opportunity, parents and friends and relatives in the sexual knowledge of help is minimal. Jiang Hui called for male experts to pay more attention to strengthening public health education through the Internet and other media channels, in addition to treatment in hospitals. The experts said that exaggerated propaganda and too little education for male diseases will not bring good results, medical industry practitioners, especially male professionals should actively convey scientific knowledge of sexual health, provide standardized treatment, and strive to create a safer and more private environment for the public, and male patients should also put down the psychological baggage, positive face, choose regular medical institutions to avoid irregularities The best time for treatment is delayed and money is spent.
