“Heavy metal” Chinese medicine

In recent years, the problem of excessive heavy metals in Chinese medicine has caused widespread concern. Because the philosophy of Chinese medicine is different from that of Western medicine, it has also caused misinterpretation of Chinese medicine by some people. Modern technology believes that humans who have lived in the natural environment for a long time have a strong ability to adapt to natural substances. Some people have analyzed the distribution pattern of more than 60 common elements in the human body and found that the percentage content of most of them in human blood is very similar to their percentage content in the earth’s crust. However, humans are much less tolerant to synthetic chemicals. So distinguishing between the natural or artificial properties of pollutants helps to estimate the degree of harm they cause to humans. Heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic are caused by the development of industrial activities, which cause enrichment in the human surroundings, enter the human body through the atmosphere, water and food, and accumulate in certain organs of the body, causing chronic poisoning and endangering human health. Therefore, the heavy metals in Chinese medicine should be analyzed specifically and cannot be generalized. The toxicity of mercury to human body depends largely on its form of existence. The main component of vermilion is mercury sulfide (HgS), which is a typical covalently bonded compound with stable chemical properties. The solubility is extremely small, even insoluble in nitric acid and hydrochloric acid, and difficult to be absorbed by the body by decomposition in the stomach. Therefore, the toxicity evaluation of cinnabar and proprietary Chinese medicines containing cinnabar cannot be simply converted by applying the toxicity data of “mercury”. In addition, some mineral herbal medicines use heavy metals, such as ascorbic acid, light powder, arsenic, lead pellets, xionghuang, sulfur, etc. They all contain arsenic, mercury and lead. They are all very toxic mineral heavy metal medicines, but also have a strong therapeutic effect, mainly for external use, some can be taken internally, strictly controlled dose. The government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) is a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (NPCPCPC), which is a body of law that is governed by the Constitution of the PRC. It can also be used as a medicine for the treatment of the disease. ②It can hyperactivate the assimilation process in the body, so it is cautiously taken internally in small amounts and was used as a strong agent in the past. ③ can treat leukemia, asthma, rickets, etc.; ④ local application has a corrosive effect. Mercury is rarely produced separately in nature, and is generally extracted from the ore of tansa (mercury sulfide). The pharmacological effects of mercury drugs are: ① strong corrosive and insecticidal effects, external treatment of malignant sores, dead muscles, superfluous tumors, stubborn `, etc.. ②Small amount of application has the effect of blood tonic, cardiotonic and diuretic. ③It is protoplasmic poison, which can kill microorganisms and parasites. Lead is one of the non-ferrous metals, which can be oxidized at high temperature; it can also be combined with sulfur and various acids to make many preparations. The pharmacological effects of lead drugs are astringent in small amounts (for enteritis, dysentery, etc.) and corrosive in large amounts (commonly used for surgical sores). In TCM theory, lead drugs have the effect of calming the mind, dropping phlegm and reducing swelling, such as “black tin dan”, and can also be used to kill insects and detoxify. However, long-term use in small amounts or large amounts at one time can cause stubborn lead poisoning, which should be watched out for. Heavy metal Chinese medicine has both good medicinal effect and clinical application value, but at the same time has its toxicity, clinical application should strictly control the dose and preparation process to ensure the safety of medication.
