Psychologists find that sugar-sweetened drinks help stop people from “freaking out”

Although excessive sugar intake is harmful to health, however, Australian psychologists have found that sugar water can help people relieve stress. The study was published by the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology (Journal of Experimental Social Psychology). Sweetness reduces stress The University of Queensland in Australia and the University of New South Wales researchers jointly conducted this research project. They asked some volunteers to drink sweetened lemon juice and others to drink lemon juice with artificial sweeteners. Then, the researchers asked the volunteers to complete a series of stressful and challenging tasks, such as public speaking. After the speeches, the researchers deliberately angered some of the volunteers by saying that their speeches were long and boring and disappointing. The results showed that the volunteers who drank the sweetened lemon juice did not react strongly to the researchers’ “provocation”. The researchers believe that this is because sugar provides energy to the brain, allowing it to control impulses, thus preventing people from “freaking out” under stress. ”If you drink a sweet drink beforehand, when we meet a difficult boss in a work meeting, the ability to conceal the impulse will increase,” the British newspaper “Daily Mail” reported on the 6th quoting researchers, “after a day of stressful work, if you drink a sweet drink before work, but also can let us go home to the family better attitude.” Increased self-control Researchers believe that the human brain needs glucose to provide energy for “executive functions” that control human behavior. “One way to increase the amount of energy available to the brain so that it can perform its executive functions is to increase the level of glucose in the blood” “When people are provoked, the extra glucose can help suppress impulses. The researchers also found that those volunteers who were not enraged after the speech became more agitated after drinking the sweetened lemon juice instead. Currently, they can not explain this phenomenon, but “our results show that glucose can increase self-control when people are provoked. The researchers also pointed out that people can not therefore conclude and drink too much sugary drinks. Teenagers who drink too many sugary drinks can cause acne problems, as well as dental disease. Impulsiveness can lead to mistakes, according to psychologists, and employees can be impulsive and reckless at work. Studies show that if a person is rude to a colleague at work, he or she will be treated in the same way by the colleague. Even if they hear other colleagues arguing at work, the likelihood of making mistakes themselves is greatly increased. Rona, a professor of applied psychology at the University of Aberdeen in the UK? Fran has published an article in the British Medical Journal weekly that human attention “is largely driven by emotion”, rude attitude can affect people’s performance. In one study, Fran arranged for a professor to severely criticize some students before they took an exam. The results showed that the students who were criticized performed worse on the exam than the other students. ”This situation may be caused by emotional swings caused by rudeness. Rudeness can ‘shut down’ the cognitive abilities needed in emotional processing. Another possibility is that being treated rudely can cause a person to become mentally unfocused,” Fran wrote.
