Doctors – Learning to Communicate is an Important Way to Improve the Doctor-Patient Relationship As a surgeon who has been working on the medical front for a long time, I have become accustomed to the media reports about medical incidents in recent years. Most of the media reports about the medical industry are based on medical disputes, the doctor-patient relationship. It should be seen that the problem of the people’s difficulty in seeing a doctor does exist. Due to the imbalance in the development of medical resources in China, large hospitals are often overcrowded, while small hospitals are crowded. Overloading of doctors in large hospitals is very common. Overseas doctors see only one tenth of the number of patients we see every day. Such a heavy workload makes doctors have no more time to communicate with their patients. Modern medicine requires that doctors should have good communication skills. However, our country has not yet taken communication ability as the content of our doctors’ promotion assessment in medical education. To improve the doctor-patient relationship, to strengthen the communication ability of doctors, and to establish a harmonious doctor-patient relationship is the duty of our health administrative department. The cultivation of doctors’ own humanistic qualities is also a real problem that needs to be solved urgently. Patients – understanding and tolerance is the greatest support for doctors Admittedly, our patients suffer from illness, often exhausted, in the long and slow road to seek medical treatment difficult to move forward. They long for the understanding and care of their doctors. They demand information, and they place all their desire for life in their doctors. How can a patient who is full of hope not want to think of his doctor as his savior? Doctors should really think differently. If they were a patient, what would I want the doctor to do? Doctors are people, they are working hard, overtime, every Spring Festival, everyone and family reunion time, how many doctors and nurses for the recovery of patients working in obscurity. Medicine is an independent discipline different from other natural sciences. There are simply no two identical people in the world. Each person’s condition is different, and the condition is ever-changing, too much unknowability, too many individual differences. Similarly, there are still too many unsolved problems in medicine, and there is a limit to the development of medicine. Some diseases will never be cured in any country in the world. It should be noted that every doctor has basic professional ethics and they do want to cure their patients. Since the information between doctors and patients is asymmetric, patients are often dissatisfied because they do not get the right information. It can be seen that good communication and trust between doctors and patients is very important.
