If the yellowing of the palms is caused by cholecystitis, the problem is more serious. About one in four people with cholecystitis will develop non-obstructive jaundice, where abnormal secretion of bile spills into the tissues and the palms of the hands appear yellow, when the inflammation of the gallbladder is more severe and there may be severe symptoms of sudden biliary colic, requiring prompt medical attention.
