How to detect liver cancer early?

Liver cancer is a common malignant tumor. People are often afraid of talking about liver cancer. So, who is prone to get liver cancer? And how to detect liver cancer at an early stage? To summarize, the high-risk groups of liver cancer include: 1. People with a history of chronic liver disease. Current research shows that there is a trilogy of “hepatitis – cirrhosis – liver cancer”. Clinical survey data show that about l0% of viral hepatitis develop into chronic active hepatitis, and 50% of chronic active hepatitis can develop into liver cirrhosis, and the chance of liver cancer in cirrhosis is about 9.9-16.6%; among them, hepatitis B is the main cause, followed by hepatitis C. Chronic hepatitis and liver stiffness are often the basis of liver cancer, but not all patients with hepatitis and cirrhosis will develop liver cancer. Therefore, those who have suffered from viral hepatitis B/C and become chronic, or those who have developed post-hepatitis cirrhosis, should quit drinking and actively treat chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis, and should pay special attention to frequent check-ups and should not take it lightly. 2. Those who have family history of liver cancer. Research shows that although liver cancer is not hereditary, there is a family gathering phenomenon. It is possible that certain genetic defects may lead to an increased risk of liver cancer. Therefore, family members of liver cancer patients should go to the hospital for relevant examination. Some people are found to have liver cancer when they visit their loved ones who are suffering from liver cancer in the hospital and have incidental checkups. 3.Alcoholics. In many European and American countries, where hepatitis is less common, it is alcohol consumption that is an important factor in chronic liver disease, and alcohol consumption is associated with an increased risk of liver cancer. 4.Patients with severe fatty liver. Due to less attention on diet and eating a lot of high-fat food, the burden on liver is increased and the decomposition ability of fat is reduced resulting in severe fatty liver, such patients are also prone to develop liver cancer. 5.People in areas with high incidence of liver cancer. In China, there are areas with high incidence of liver cancer, such as Fusui in Guangxi, Qidong in Jiangsu, Shunde in Guangdong and Tongan in Fujian. Through epidemiological investigation and research, it is found that there are different degrees of aflatoxin contamination in the food consumed by residents in areas with high incidence of liver cancer in China. Therefore, people living in areas with high incidence of liver cancer should pay attention to screening. How can liver cancer be detected early? For these high-risk groups, we suggest them: to go to the hospital regularly for screening of liver cancer, mainly to check tumor markers (methemoglobin) and to do liver ultrasound. If there are abnormal test results and high suspicion of liver cancer possibility, further examination, such as CTMRI of upper abdomen, etc.
