1. The patient lies supine on the examination bed with the buttocks close to the side of the bed and the legs apart on the legrest to maximize the exposure of the perineum; 2. During the whole process from the full exposure of the vaginal part of the cervix (i.e. the part of the cervix protruding into the vagina) with the vaginal speculum to the examination, the patient should remain relaxed and cooperate with the doctor.
