What to look for after cholecystectomy

Many patients with gallbladder disorders such as cholecystitis, stones, polyps and even tumors have to have their gallbladders removed, and the question we are often asked by patients after removal is whether gallbladder removal is harmful to the body and what to pay attention to. These are very practical questions. The gallbladder is a pouch in the body used to store concentrated bile secreted by the liver. When the gallbladder is stimulated by food after eating, it contracts by itself and discharges the concentrated bile into the small intestine through the bile duct to help digestion. Once the gallbladder becomes diseased and harmful to the body, it must be removed. Without the gallbladder the bile duct will then assume the function of the gallbladder. This process takes about 2 to 3 months. That is, doctors often say that in the three months after cholecystectomy to pay attention to the problem. 1. Choose easily digestible food Early after surgery, the distal sphincter of the bile duct is lightly paralyzed for a period of time, and bile cannot be stored, but continues to drip out. When you still eat a lot of food with high fat content and do not have enough amount of bile used to help digestion, you will have right upper abdominal discomfort or fatty diarrhea. So during this time do not eat or eat less fatty foods fried foods and animal offal. But to increase nutrition, eat protein-rich lean meats, aquatic products, soy products, vegetables, fruits, etc. Eat regularly and eat fewer meals. to adapt to the physiological changes after cholecystectomy. Over time, as little as 2 months or as much as 6 months, the bile ducts gradually dilate, which in turn replaces the role of the gallbladder. Indigestion symptoms will slowly ease, and the diet will gradually transition to normal. 2.After resuming a normal diet, a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet and proper exercise are still recommended to prevent new bile duct stones. 3, regular review Under the guidance of the doctor according to the condition of each individual patient after surgery to take a period of anti-inflammatory cholestatic drugs. 4.Be happy and avoid anger because the dysfunction of the nervous system will also affect the compensatory function of the biliary tract. In conclusion, cholecystectomy is a routine surgery, and most patients will recover quickly after surgery.
