What are the daily considerations for depression?

  Depression is the disorder with the highest suicide rate in psychiatry. The high prevalence of depression, with almost 1 in 7 adults suffering from depression, has led it to be called the flu of psychiatry. The suffering caused by depression to patients and their families and the toll it takes on society is unparalleled by any other illness. Depressed patients need to be closely supervised to avoid accidents. The following are daily precautions for depression.  1. Strictly implement the overall nursing management system, and nursing staff should have a high sense of responsibility to be aware of patients with negative ideation and focus on rounds. Especially in the night, early morning, nap, before meals and handover and holidays and other wards with few staff, nursing staff should pay special attention to prevention.  2.Patients are placed in large rooms that are easy for nursing staff to observe, with safe facilities, bright light, air circulation, and a neat and comfortable environment for treatment and recuperation. The walls are mainly bright colors, and hang murals and the right amount of flowers to help mobilize the patient’s positive and good mood and renew the love of life.  3, to strengthen the safety inspection of ward facilities. The storage of drugs and dangerous goods should be strictly done to eliminate unsafe factors. When issuing drugs, the mouth should be carefully checked to prevent hiding drugs or swallowing them at once after accumulation.  4, should establish a good therapeutic interpersonal relationship with the patient, to closely observe the aura symptoms of suicide; such as anxiety, insomnia, silence and few words or bright mood, wandering in the place of trouble, depression and irritability, refusing meals, bedridden, etc. Caregivers should not allow patients to be alone, but can accompany them to participate in various group activities, such as various work therapy and recreational therapy, and should be able to identify these movements in their contact with patients and give psychological support to cheer them up and avoid accidents.
