Pressing the Diji point for dysmenorrhea

Mild back pain and bloating, breast discomfort and emotional disturbance during menstruation in teenage girls are generally normal physiological phenomena. However, there are some people, every time before and after the period or during the menstrual period, are unbearable bouts of pain in the lower abdomen, after examination without obvious organic lesions, medical known as primary or functional dysmenorrhea. Chinese medicine believes that the treatment of dysmenorrhea is due to deficiency cold, qi stagnation, stasis and wind chill, and that pressing and rubbing the Diji point can relieve the pain. Method: Use the index finger to press the point on the inside of the calf, five inches below the knee at the posterior edge of the tibia, to find the most sensitive point, and use the thumb to press the sensitive point as lightly and as hard as you can tolerate. Keep pressing for 1 minute and the pain will be relieved or disappear soon. After pressing, the pain may be sore and swollen locally, or may radiate to the perineum and small abdomen. The point method can be performed several days before and during menstruation, 1 to 2 times daily. Diji point, an effective empirical point for clinical treatment of dysmenorrhea, is often associated with pressure pain and spontaneous pain in patients with dysmenorrhea. It can be combined with the Guilai point to regulate menstruation, which warms the uterus, disperses cold and relieves pain.
