Gallbladder Cancer Survival

The survival period of gallbladder cancer is closely related to the degree of gallbladder cancer invasion and clinical stage. Gallbladder cancer can be divided into early stage, progressive stage and end stage. The 5-year survival rate of early stage patients can reach 30%-40%, while the 5-year survival rate of progressive stage patients is generally below 10%, and the survival time of end-stage patients generally does not exceed 1 year. Therefore, for gallbladder cancer, early detection, diagnosis and treatment are necessary to obtain better curative effect and thus prolong the survival period.1. Early stage: Generally, patients with early stage gallbladder cancer have a better survival period, with a 5-year survival rate of 30%-40%. Especially for unexpectedly discovered gallbladder cancer, such as when other diseases of gallbladder are treated surgically, gallbladder cancer is unexpectedly discovered in pathological examination and effectively and radically resected, and some of the patients will not affect the survival time. Early stage gallbladder cancer, after active surgical radical treatment, together with chemotherapy and targeted immunotherapy, can achieve better treatment effect; 2. Progressive stage: for patients with progressive stage gallbladder cancer, the prognosis is often poor. Since gallbladder cancer is extremely difficult to be detected in the early stage, once it is found to have symptoms, it is often in the progressive stage or end stage. For patients with progressive gallbladder cancer, the overall survival rate of 5 years is generally less than 10%, because the malignancy of gallbladder cancer is high and once it develops to the progressive stage, there are fewer effective treatment options, and usually surgery is not able to achieve radical resection. As chemotherapy and targeted immunotherapy cannot achieve good control effect, the overall 5-year survival rate of patients with progressive gallbladder cancer is extremely low; 3. End-stage: for end-stage gallbladder cancer, the survival time is not more than 1 year. Because end-stage gallbladder cancer progresses extremely fast, multiple metastases will appear within a short time and lead to abnormal multi-organ functions and malnutrition cachexia, thus leading to a significantly shorter survival time.
