What causes alkalosis?

Alkalosis is categorized into metabolic alkalosis and respiratory alkalosis. Metabolic alkalosis is mainly caused by digestive system diseases; while respiratory alkalosis is caused by stimulation of the central nervous system such as craniocerebral infection, craniocerebral tumor and craniocerebral trauma. 1. Metabolic alkalosis: metabolic alkalosis is mainly caused by digestive system diseases, such as excessive loss of gastric acid, severe vomiting and long-term gastrointestinal decompression. This is the most common cause of metabolic alkalosis. Alkali intake is mainly such as long-term oral sodium bicarbonate tablets, massive blood transfusion, potassium deficiency, diuretics such as tachycardia, and the application of etanercept can also lead to metabolic alkalosis. 2. Respiratory alkalosis: it may be due to craniocerebral infection, craniocerebral tumor, craniocerebral trauma and other central nervous system stimulation caused by lesions; it may also be due to patients with congestive heart failure, pulmonary embolism, severe pneumonia and other respiratory diseases caused by the changes in the condition of the patient; there are also some patients due to neurological disorders resulting in respiratory alkalosis. When the patient appears alkalosis, should go to the hospital in time, after the cause is clear, and actively cooperate with the doctor’s treatment.
