  Pharmacological effects
  It can promote the secretion of endogenous bile acids and reduce reabsorption; antagonize the cytotoxic effect of hydrophobic bile acids and protect liver cell membranes; dissolve cholesterol stones; and have immunomodulatory effects.
  Indications
  Cholesterol gallstones. Primary cholestatic hepatic sclerosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis. Biliary reflux gastritis.
  Dosage
  Cholesterol gallstones 10 mg/kg body weight/day. The stones must be X-ray penetrating and the gallbladder must have normal contractile function. Primary cholestatic hepatic sclerosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis 15 mg/kg body weight/day. Biliary reflux gastritis 250 mg/day at bedtime.
  Adverse reactions
  1. Calcification of gallstones may occur during treatment of gallstones. Rash and loose stools may occur in rare cases.
  2. Occasionally, cirrhosis of the liver may occur during the treatment of advanced primary biliary cirrhosis and may recover after discontinuation of treatment.
  3.Severe right upper abdominal pain may occur in rare cases when treating primary biliary cirrhosis.
  Contraindications
  Ursodeoxycholic acid capsules are contraindicated in the following cases.
  -Acute cholecystitis and cholangitis;
  -Obstruction of the biliary tract (bile ducts and cystic ducts);
  -Ursodeoxycholic acid capsules should not be used if the gallbladder can no longer be seen on X-ray, if gallstones are calcified, if the gallbladder does not contract properly, and if there is frequent biliary colic.
  Drug Interactions
  Combination with biliamine, clofibrate and antacids containing aluminum hydroxide may reduce the absorption of this drug.

  Acute biliary tract infection, biliary obstruction, pregnant and lactating women.
  Drug Interactions
  Combination with cholestyramine, colestipol and antacids containing aluminum hydroxide may result in decreased absorption of this drug.
