In life, we may suddenly feel fidgety for some reason, unable to concentrate on some things in work and life. From a psychological point of view, feeling fidgety is actually a psychological problem or even a mental illness. In our daily life, sometimes we feel fidgety, such as facing an important exam, contacting and talking with strangers, in front of a stressful job, when a family member is sick. This is the result of nervousness, anticipation, irritability, and fear. This fidgeting emotion is medically known as anxiety. The emotions of nervousness, anticipation, fear and irritability are the main manifestations of anxiety. Anxiety is an emotion, and everyone experiences anxiety as an emotion. Moderate anxiety is not a bad thing, it can make people focus on something very important and can motivate people to gather strength to cope with the upcoming crisis. Therefore, a moderate amount of anxiety is a normal emotion. However, excessive anxiety, or anxiety lasting a long time, will have the opposite effect. It can prevent the processing of important things, and even affect daily life, and in serious cases, it can even lead to anxiety disorder, and anxiety is no longer a simple emotional expression, but becomes a mental illness that combines emotional, behavioral and physical discomfort, and is medically called anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorder as a mental illness has become one of the common disorders in today’s society. Patients with various types of anxiety disorders are estimated to account for 2% to 5% of the entire population, and are particularly prominent in urban areas. Some survey statistics show that about 4.1% to 6.6% of people will have anxiety disorders during their lifetime. In the United States, the lifetime prevalence of people with anxiety disorders is as high as about 10 to 15 percent. Some psychologists even say that today’s age is the age of anxiety. Since fidgeting is a symptom of anxiety disorders, those who have this problem in their lives must face the problem squarely and take the initiative to regulate their mental state or seek professional medical help.
