How to treat moderate depression

According to the symptoms of depression and the degree of impairment of social function, depression can be classified as mild, moderate and severe at present. According to the Chinese Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Depressive Disorders, the treatment of moderate depression is mainly as follows: 1. Mild depression can be treated with psychotherapy alone or psychotherapy combined with medication. Psychotherapy alone should be evaluated regularly for efficacy and medication should be started as soon as possible if the effect is not good; 2. Medication and physical therapy should be started immediately for moderate and above depression. More newer antidepressants now exist, with at least more than 23 antidepressants to choose from. Physical therapy, including transcranial magnetic stimulation and traditional twitch-free electroconvulsive therapy, can effectively improve moderate or even severe depression, thereby providing rapid relief from depression and reducing and eliminating the risk of suicide; 3. Patients may consider inpatient treatment when outpatient treatment is ineffective.
