How long one can live after gallbladder removal needs to be judged according to the specific condition of the patient and cannot be generalized. Clinical causes of gallbladder removal include benign diseases and malignant diseases. If it is caused by benign diseases of the gallbladder, such as gallbladder stones and gallbladder polyps, after gallbladder removal, some patients may suffer from indigestion, biliary gastritis, and recurrence of stones, but it usually does not affect the life expectancy of patients and the survival time is no different from that of normal people. If it is a malignant lesion of gallbladder, such as gallbladder cancer, the prognosis is often worse, but it is also related to the stage of cancer. Early stage gallbladder cancer can usually survive 10-30 years after surgery, if it is advanced gallbladder cancer, the survival rate of 5 years after surgery is lower, and some patients may only survive half year to 1 year after surgery. Patients are advised to pay attention to light diet, avoid greasy and high cholesterol food, participate in certain physical exercise, pay attention to regular rest, and avoid smoking and alcohol after surgery.
