How long to recuperate after gallbladder removal

How long to recuperate after cholecystectomy depends on the patient’s specific situation and cannot be generalized. The common surgery for gallbladder removal in clinical practice is laparoscopic cholecystectomy, which is less invasive and quicker to recover, and patients can usually be discharged the day after surgery and can have a normal diet after a week. If the patient has an easy job, he or she can usually resume some work appropriately after a week or so of recuperation. However, it is not recommended to engage in strenuous activities because the titanium clip exists on the surgical wound at this time, and if the patient exerts too much, it may cause the clip to loosen or fall off, resulting in conditions such as biliary fistula or bleeding. If the patient is engaged in physical work, it is recommended to recuperate for about one month and then work when the body has fully recovered. After cholecystectomy, since the reserve of bile may not be as good as before, it is not recommended to eat foods that are too greasy, such as fried or deep-fried foods, or fatty meats or egg yolks, to prevent affecting digestion or causing steatorrhea, and more attention needs to be paid to the diet.
