Patients with ankylosing spondylitis may not be able to move due to various conditions, but due to the necessity of functional exercise, we introduce to our patients one of the simplest and easiest ways to do this, and the prop needed is a wall. First, we stand with our backs to the wall, with our shoulders and hips against the wall and our heels as close to the wall as possible. The chin is close to the chest and the back of the head is against the wall. Relax your shoulders. Raise your arms upward and forward, but do not bend your elbows. Stretch upward as far as possible, but do not lift your heels. Bring your upper arm close to your ear with your thumbs facing the wall. Try to insist on relaxing afterwards and repeat several times a day to effectively improve the functional status of the spine.
