Gallbladder wall thickening is a relatively common occurrence on imaging. A gallbladder wall thickening of more than 3 mm is generally referred to as gallbladder wall thickening. There is no harm in gallbladder wall thickening itself, but the harm comes from the causes of gallbladder wall thickening. 1, the most common cause of gallbladder wall thickening is due to various causes of cholecystitis. These diseases include acute calculous cholecystitis, non-calculous cholecystitis, and chronic cholecystitis. These diseases can cause thickening of the wall of the gallbladder due to repeated episodes of inflammatory stimulation of the gallbladder, resulting in tissue hyperplasia of the gallbladder wall. Some problems such as biliary colic, fever, and jaundice can mainly occur and cause discomfort to the person. In special cases, long-term chronic inflammation of the gallbladder can lead to the occurrence of gallbladder cancer, which brings great pain to people. Therefore, when gallbladder stones are combined with gallbladder wall thickening, early surgery is recommended to prevent disease progression. 2. Gallbladder stones can cause porcelain gallbladder in special cases. Porcelain gallbladder is a rare disease that occurs to produce calcified thickening of the gallbladder wall. Such a gallbladder is actually a non-functional gallbladder, and is a factor in the development of gallbladder cancer. Therefore, cholecystectomy is recommended as early as possible. 3. Gallbladder cancer is a disease with low incidence, but it can appear as thickened gallbladder wall, mainly due to the thickening of wall caused by the infiltration of cancer cells in gallbladder wall. If it is found late and invades the surrounding tissues or organs, it will greatly reduce the survival rate. When thickening of gallbladder wall is detected, it is necessary to actively seek medical consultation to clarify the cause of thickening. 4, adenomyomatosis of the gallbladder is characterized by epithelial hyperplasia, muscle hypertrophy and intramural diverticula, which will manifest on imaging as thickening of the gallbladder wall, which is a benign disease and requires no special treatment, but in some special cases, frequent episodes of biliary colic can be painful. In such cases, patients are also advised to seek prompt medical attention and, if necessary, to undergo cholecystectomy. Gallbladder wall thickening is only an imaging appearance of the gallbladder found during ultrasound and CT examinations, and there are many other diseases that can cause this condition. After detection, it needs to be actively investigated further to treat possible diseases that can cause adverse health effects.
