Cholecystectomy has been the definitive treatment for gallbladder stones for more than 100 years, and the superiority of minimally invasive laparoscopic cholecystectomy has been proven today. However, modern medicine has discovered that the gallbladder has complex chemical and immunological functions in addition to its supposed functions of storing, concentrating, and contracting bile for excretion, and that cholecystectomy carries with it sequelae such as complications. Therefore, the original defined cholecystectomy is not suitable for all gallbladder stone patients, and for patients with good gallbladder function, biliary stone extraction surgery has been increasingly adopted by the majority of patients and medical staff. Our Minimally Invasive Surgery Department has carried out biliary stone retrieval surgery earlier in China and abroad, and has gained some clinical experience and research on the indications and contraindications of biliary stone retrieval surgery, the regular follow-up and treatment of patients after surgery, and how to reduce the recurrence rate of stones after surgery. In the afternoon of every Wednesday, Wang Weidong’s clinic is dedicated to the consultation and management of patients who need biliary stone extraction, as well as the systematic prevention and health care after biliary stone extraction surgery.
