Men can be checked for syphilis by registering with the Department of Dermatology and Venereology. Patients who have unsafe sexual contact with patients suspected to be infected with syphilis, or patients who have ulcers, rashes and other symptoms suspected to be syphilis in the genital area, can go to the Department of Dermatologic Venereology for appropriate consultation and treatment in a timely manner, and the doctor may make a diagnosis by asking relevant medical history, physical examination and laboratory tests. Stage I syphilis can be directly taken from the lesion skin, mucous membrane damage exudate, dark field microscopy to see the active syphilis spirochetes that can confirm the diagnosis. All stages of syphilis can be diagnosed by serology, or by cerebrospinal fluid examination. Serologic testing can be used as a basis for diagnosis, primarily by testing for the presence of antibodies to syphilis spirochetes in the blood and using the appropriate antibodies to screen for and diagnose syphilis, both specific and non-specific. The non-syphilis spirochete serologic test is a syphilis screening test, and if the result is positive, a confirmatory test must be performed to confirm the diagnosis of syphilis.
