What is the basis for confirming the diagnosis of neonatal sepsis?

The diagnosis of neonatal sepsis needs to be based on the doctor’s comprehensive judgment and diagnosis according to the causes of neonatal morbidity, clinical symptoms, auxiliary examination.
1. Pathogenic factors: newborns with incomplete immune function are prone to infections, such as premature rupture of membranes and turbid amniotic fluid, etc. After delivery, they are infected with pathogens through droplets and skin contact, etc. Pathogens invade the blood circulation of newborns and grow, multiply and produce toxins, which triggers systemic inflammatory reactions, and is considered as sepsis of newborns.
2. Clinical symptoms: After birth, newborns show symptoms such as decreased milk intake, breast milk overflow, lethargy, unstable body temperature, low response, lack of weight gain, yellow staining of the skin and sclera, petechiae and ecchymosis of the skin and mucous membranes, and so on, which is considered to be neonatal sepsis.
3. Auxiliary examination: blood test shows that the total number of leukocytes in peripheral blood increases, C-reactive protein increases, and then according to the pathogenic factors and clinical manifestations, the diagnosis of neonatal sepsis can be confirmed.
Whether neonatal sepsis should go to the hospital, let the professional doctor to judge.
