Is it serious to do a lumbar puncture for neonatal sepsis

Neonatal sepsis is a more serious condition, but the main purpose of lumbar puncture is to identify the causative organisms and to check for intracranial infections to help the doctor make a diagnosis. Sepsis is a condition in which a variety of pathogenic microorganisms invade the human circulation to multiply and grow, such as conditionally pathogenic and pathogenic bacteria, and produce toxins that induce systemic infection and septicemia. Sepsis is one of the leading causes of neonatal mortality and some surviving children may have neurologic deficits. When neonatal sepsis occurs, the onset of the disease is acute and rapid; clinical signs and symptoms are not specific, and it is difficult to determine the disease at an early stage, therefore, it is recommended to improve the lumbar puncture examination and take targeted treatment in accordance with the doctor’s advice. If your child is suffering from sepsis, go to the hospital immediately without delay, so as not to jeopardize your child’s life.
