How do I understand syphilis test results?

The most commonly used laboratory test for syphilis in hospitals today is the serological test for syphilis. Syphilis infection produces two types of antibodies, one specific to syphilis and the other non-specific to syphilis. By detecting these two types of antibodies in the serum, it is possible to determine whether the person is infected with syphilis and to determine the effectiveness of treatment. For these two types of antibodies, laboratory tests for syphilis include two types of serological tests, one is specific syphilis test, such as TPPA, TPHA, etc. Currently, some hospitals apply the gold standard method and enzyme immunoassay also belong to this category; and the other is non-specific syphilis test, currently commonly used such as RPR and TRUST test.
