If a patient has swelling in only one hand and no other parts of the body with edema or other specific symptoms, there may be no correlation with kidney disease. Oedema due to kidney disease is most commonly seen in the face and both lids in the morning, and in some patients with oedema of both lower limbs. Some patients have hand swelling, but most of them have bilateral symmetrical swelling, and rarely have unilateral hand swelling. It is recommended to go to the vascular surgery department to see the vascular status of the swollen upper extremity for symptoms of thrombosis or venous embolism.
