Causes of hyperchloremic acidosis

The treatment of hyperchloremic acidosis depends on the specific etiology of hyperchloremic acidosis. Metabolic acidosis can be divided into AG-increased metabolic acidosis and AG-normal metabolic acidosis, of which AG-normal metabolic acidosis is also known as hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis. The specific etiologies are: 1. loss of bicarbonate from the gastrointestinal tract, such as severe diarrhea, small intestine or biliary fistula, which can cause a large amount of sodium bicarbonate 2. loss of bicarbonate from the kidney; 3. acid excretion dysfunction caused by renal impairment; 4. excessive intake of chlorine-containing acidic drugs. Therefore, its treatment is based on active treatment of the primary disease, but sodium bicarbonate should be given immediately when the serum pH is below 7.2.
