How to treat acidosis

The causes of acidosis are divided into two main types: respiratory and metabolic factors. The main goal of treatment for acidosis due to respiratory factors is to improve alveolar ventilation dysfunction in patients. The treatment of the primary disease and related causative factors is the focus of treatment, such as the administration of aspiration to relieve the patient’s respiratory sputum blockage; active anti-infection treatment to control the patient’s lung infection; the administration of airway dilating drugs to improve the patient’s airway ventilation; the administration of respiratory central excitatory drugs to enhance respiratory function and accelerate carbon dioxide excretion; the fixation of surgery for patients with chest trauma, and Ventilator-assisted ventilation, etc. All these treatments can be selected depending on the patient’s specific condition. For acidosis caused by metabolic factors, the main points of treatment are to restore the patient’s effective circulating blood volume, improve tissue perfusion and renal function, correct the water-electrolyte disorder and treat the primary cause, and in combination with blood gas analysis and other test results, sodium bicarbonate can be given if necessary to correct the acid-base imbalance and other treatment purposes.
