What is adenocystitis? How is it treated?

Adenocystitis is a benign lesion of the bladder mucosa caused by chronic bladder irritation due to urinary tract infections, obstruction, and stones. The normal bladder mucosa is composed of migratory epithelium, but under chronic stimulation by various physicochemical factors of inflammation and obstruction, the local mucosal tissue evolves into glandular epithelium, which leads to adenoid cystitis. Adenoid cystitis is prevalent in the young and middle-aged female population and is often misdiagnosed as a urethral syndrome. According to recent studies, adenoid cystitis is a precancerous lesion and if left untreated, about 4% of patients evolve into bladder cancer in a few years. There are various treatments for adenoid cystitis, including simple intravesical irrigation therapy, simple electrodesiccation of the bladder, bladder injection therapy, partial bladder resection, bladder mucosal debridement, and even total bladder resection in severe cases. My opinion is holmium laser transurethral resection plus intravesical infusion of anti-cancer drugs. The specific treatment and course of treatment need to be determined according to the lesion condition.
