What is the procedure of jaw angle surgery?

Mandibuloplasty is a common procedure in craniomaxillofacial contouring. Each patient has a different jaw angle and nerve position alignment, and the jaw angle on both sides of each person is often asymmetrical. Therefore, precise bone removal and avoiding damage to nerves and blood vessels is the key to successful surgery. The department has established a 3D digital virtual surgical design platform to personalize the design and surgery for each patient and precisely guide the surgical design and operation. The application of computerized three-dimensional digital virtual technology for preoperative design and determination of the osteotomy line has improved the safety and effectiveness of jaw angle enlargement surgery. If you are fully prepared psychologically and decide to undergo jaw angle surgery, we will operate according to the following procedures: 1.Imaging examination: Perform cranial frontal and lateral and mandibular surface tomography to detect the condition of the mandible and neural tube, perform spiral CT scan and 3D reconstruction of the mandible to detect whether the bilateral mandibles are symmetrical, and use it for mandible modeling. 2.Mandibular model making: CT scan data and 3D reconstruction technology, as well as 3D printing technology are applied to make a 3D model of the mandible, which is the same as the normal mandible. 3.Virtual osteotomy line design and osteotomy guide plate production: According to the mandibular angle and neural canal in the mandibular surface tomography, mark the curved osteotomy line on the mandibular 3D model, and make osteotomy guide plate according to the osteotomy line, which is used to guide the osteotomy amount of the mandibular angle during the operation. 4.Surgical operation: (1) Mandibular outer plate grinding: make an intra-oral incision, separate and reveal the mandibular body, mandibular angle and the lower edge of the mandibular ascending branch. A large grinding ball is applied to evenly polish the outer plate of the mandible on both sides. (2) Curved osteotomy of the mandibular angle: the sterilized osteotomy guide is placed on the mandibular angle, the osteotomy line of the mandibular angle is marked with a small grinding ball, precise osteotomy is performed, and the large grinding ball is applied to polish the osteotomy surface until it is smooth and flat, and the shape is observed to be satisfactory and basically consistent on both sides. Under general anesthesia, the procedure is painless and the surgery usually takes 1-1.5 hours to complete. The incision of the surgery is inside the mouth, so that no scar will be left on the face. 5.Post-operative recovery and treatment: After the surgery is completed, it is necessary to use antibiotics, hemostatic drugs and other infusion treatment for 3-5 days to prevent infection and bleeding. On the first day after surgery, you can generally get out of bed normally. In order to prevent wound infection, you can only eat warm and cool liquid food during the post-operative hospitalization, and forbid to eat spicy, mutton, seafood and other foods that can easily lead to allergic reactions and affect wound healing. On the 3rd and 4th day after surgery, the swelling of the face often increases compared to the first two days, which is a normal physiological reaction, then the swelling will gradually subside and the effect of surgery will gradually appear. The stitches are usually removed about 10 days after the surgery. When the wound is completely healed and the stitches are removed, you can eat and drink normally. It usually takes about 7 days of hospitalization.
