How to maintain the mental health of the elderly?

Aging emotion is a special psycho-neurological reaction of the elderly to various changes, which varies from person to person, with complex and variable performance, and seriously interferes with and damages the physiological functions and disease prevention ability of the elderly, affecting the functions of neurological, immune, endocrine and other systems, thus accelerating the occurrence and development of aging and geriatric diseases. There are roughly three factors that affect the mental health of the elderly: 1. Aging and disease: After the age of 60, people will cause a series of physiological and psychological degenerative changes, physical strength and memory will gradually decline. This normal aging change makes the elderly inevitably have the feeling of “not being able to cope”, and bring some physical discomfort and pain. Especially in the elderly, they may even fear that “death is coming” and seek medication indiscriminately. If disease is added to the aging process, some elderly people will become sad, worried and fearful. 2, mental trauma: After retirement, the elderly will face various unavoidable changes, such as the death of old companions and friends, physical aging, health deterioration, etc.. Mental trauma has an important impact on the quality of life, health and disease efficacy of the elderly, some elderly people are in pain and sadness, which will damage their health in the long run. 3, environmental changes: the most common is the sudden changes in the surrounding environment, as well as the influence of social and family relationships, which is often not easy for the elderly to adapt to, thus accelerating the aging process. How can the elderly maintain a good physical and mental state? 1.Be open-minded and happy: In the long-term medical practice, it is found that the long-lived elderly are often cheerful, enthusiastic and understanding, and they are uncontentious with the world and feel that their lives are full and satisfied. 2, face the reality, out of the misunderstanding: as the elderly themselves, should be correct, accept the reality, no matter what difficulties encountered, must have a realistic and positive attitude towards life, their own care for themselves, relief, and try to maintain a psychological balance. Older people should actively and moderately participate in some social activities and develop a wide range of interests. When people are old, they have more free time, so they can take this opportunity to learn more things, cultivate a variety of interests and hobbies, in order to cultivate sentiment, deal with all aspects of interpersonal relationships, so that they can have fun with the crowd, like to be “urchins”. 3, make friends, often talk: the elderly will inevitably encounter some unpleasant things, often in a close friend to vent their frustration, mutual comfort, exchange wistful, help to relax the mood, to maintain mental balance plays an important role.
