Gallbladder stones are a type of gallstones. With the improvement of people’s living standard, the incidence of gallbladder stones in China is gradually increasing. They are mainly seen in adults, and their incidence increases with age after the age of 40, with more women than men. When stones are formed in the gallbladder, they can not only form chronic cholecystitis, but also stimulate infection and lead to acute inflammation of the gallbladder. The symptoms of gallbladder stones depend on the size and location of the stones and the presence of obstruction and inflammation. 1. The most common is biliary colic, which is often associated with eating fatty food. The pain is located in the right upper abdomen or epigastrium and is paroxysmal, or persistent pain that increases in paroxysms and may radiate to the right shoulder and back. After the first appearance of biliary colic, there will be about 70% of patients will have another attack within a year, with the frequency of attacks will increase. Most patients with gallbladder stones can be asymptomatic for life, i.e. asymptomatic gallbladder stones. Larger gallbladder stones can cause symptoms of indigestion, such as stuffiness and distension in the upper and middle abdomen, belching and fear of eating fatty food, which are often misdiagnosed as “stomach problems”. 3.When gallbladder stones are embedded for a long time or obstruct the gallbladder duct but not combined with infection, it will lead to gallbladder effusion. On physical examination, an enlarged gallbladder without obvious pressure pain can be palpated.4. When acute infection occurs, pressure pain and muscle tension in the middle and upper right abdomen can be observed, and an enlarged gallbladder with obvious pressure pain can be retrieved, which is clinically called Murphy’s sign. With the development of minimally invasive technology, laparoscopic cholecystectomy has become the gold standard for the treatment of gallbladder stones. If patients with gallbladder stones develop the above symptoms, they should seek medical treatment in a timely manner.
