Dear Patients and Families: Since the number of patients at each of my specialist clinics is often around 55-70, or even more, the waiting time for some patients is more than four hours. After much deliberation and consideration, I offer the following solutions in the hope that they will be helpful. Get an appointment number if possible, and have an appointment number within 50 patients in line. The higher the number, the shorter the wait time. Please refer to my previous article on how to make an appointment with a specialist. If you do not have an appointment, but are a repeat patient, you may be given an additional number on a case-by-case basis. If you are a first-time patient and do not have an appointment number, you may be given an additional number. Once you have registered, please submit your medical history to my students and write your medical history in advance. As the newly opened clinic does not require an appointment for the time being, patients who do not have an appointment number may also consider coming here first. Out-of-town patients are not restricted by Shanghai’s medical insurance policy, so it is more convenient to come to the clinic. I will be opening a special needs clinic in June. The benefits of the special needs clinic are: the total number of patients is small, and the doctor can guarantee that each patient and family member will be given more than fifteen minutes of consultation time, so that they can be diagnosed more carefully and given detailed treatment plans and prescriptions, as well as enough time to answer questions from patients and families. It is recommended that patients with the following conditions first visit a special outpatient clinic: 1) Patients who are visiting the clinic for the first time and have many questions that need to be answered in detail; 2) Patients who are in poor health and cannot afford to wait for a long time for their first visit; 3) Patients with complex conditions or relapses and metastases that require a longer time to determine the treatment plan; 4) Patients who do not want to wait for a long time; 5) Patients who want to have more time to communicate with the doctor Patients or family members who wish to have more time to communicate with the doctor. Regardless of the type of specialist you plan to see, please be sure to bring all of your medical history including the most recent test results.
