How long can you live if your esophageal cancer has spread?

Patients with esophageal cancer who have spread and are not suitable for surgical treatment have a survival time of about six months. If a duodenal nutrition tube is placed, strict enteral nutrition can play a role in nutritional support to a certain extent and prolong the patient’s life. The survival time of post-operative patients with esophageal cancer is about 3 months if there is spread. The causes of esophageal cancer are related to dietary structure and family genetic factors, etc. Typical symptoms are difficulty in swallowing, pain behind the sternum and burning sensation. Early diagnosis should be promptly treated by surgery, and if the condition allows, adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy can also be chosen to slow down the development of tumor. Patients with esophageal cancer who have spread are already in advanced stage with poor quality of life, and it is easy to have distant organ aggravation which leads to patient’s death.
