Why does esophageal cancer make you choke on food?

Obstruction after eating is a very common symptom of esophageal cancer. This symptom is closely related to the clinical characteristics of esophageal cancer. In one case, the tumor grows into the lumen and causes narrowing of the lumen, so that the passage of food is obstructed and the patient will feel choking; in the second case, although the tumor does not grow into the lumen, the thickening of the esophageal wall and the stiffening of the esophageal movement will also cause narrowing of the lumen of the esophagus, and the patient will also feel obstruction after swallowing. It is not necessarily esophageal cancer when there is obstruction in swallowing, but obstruction in swallowing is indeed a relatively common and early symptom of esophageal cancer. If there is obstruction in swallowing, it is recommended to go to hospital for corresponding examinations, such as gastroscopy and barium swallowing, in order to clarify what causes the obstruction in swallowing, which should be noted.
