Patients with depression usually have low mood, no interest in doing things, feeling no pleasure, sometimes the feeling of spending days like years; slow brain reaction, sluggishness, feeling brain stupid; reluctance to move, reluctance to interact with people, slow movement, and even like to be bedridden. There will also be pessimism, no self-confidence, no hope, helplessness, etc. In severe cases, there is no confidence in treatment, or even anhedonia or thoughts of death. What is easily overlooked is that some depressed patients present with symptoms of somatic discomfort. Insomnia, or early awakening, inability to fall back to sleep after waking, or no sense of sleep; loss of appetite, weight loss, poor gastrointestinal function; pain in many parts of the body, like headache, back pain or pain in indefinite places, weakness. Decreased sexual desire, etc. The sensation of somatic discomfort can involve all organs, such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, chest tightness, sweating, etc. The sensations complained of are often not checked for clear somatic diseases after physical examination, and often experience multiple visits to cardiology, gastroenterology, rheumatology or neurology, which often fail to solve the problem. These patients require further consultation with psychiatry.
