There is an urgent need for psychological guidance in the earthquake-stricken areas.

Medical treatment at the Qinghai Red Cross Hospital has been going well these days, with daily checkups, treatment and surgery for earthquake victims already forming the norm. A large number of medical personnel from all over the country are stationed in major hospitals in Xining, and the hospitals I support have medical support forces from Beijing, Shanghai, Shaanxi, Xinjiang, etc. The more prominent situation is not a shortage of medical personnel, but the urgent need for psychological support staff for many earthquake victims and their families. A young boy who was frightened in the earthquake has been reluctant to talk since he was admitted to the hospital, and even when he was examined, he was not very cooperative; another young female casualty, who was already very sensitive, had many episodes of hysteria after being injured in the earthquake, and her family is still afraid to tell her that her mother has passed away in the earthquake; there are also victims in the earthquake area who were not injured, but repeatedly asked the doctor to examine him in the hospital and are very anxious .      Yesterday I came into contact with several groups of psychological volunteer service personnel, one of the teams has been doing psychological counseling in Beichuan since the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, which lasted for two years, and now they are transferred from Beichuan to Xining, they check in with the medical staff, we treat the physical injuries, and the psychologists treat the psychological trauma, and the effect is very good. At present, the number of psychological counseling staff is still very insufficient.
