What should I do if I have ankylosing spondylitis and have a hunchback?

  In the later stages of ankylosing spondylitis, a hunchback, or kyphosis, may be considered if it is accompanied by a markedly restricted field of vision, significant cosmetic deformity, and persistent low back pain, and post-operative osteotomy orthopedic surgery may significantly improve the appearance and restore flat vision.  The following X-ray shows that the patient’s preoperative “rosette” has improved significantly and the spine has regained its relatively normal physiological curvature.
