The liver usually starts to repair after a few days of abstinence from alcohol

Immediately after quitting drinking, the liver begins to repair itself and liver function gradually returns to normal. The time it takes for the liver to return to a healthy state depends on the degree of damage to the liver. The critical period is 3 days after quitting alcohol, when withdrawal reactions tend to occur. The alcohol consumed by the body will be broken down in the body and excreted in the form of urine. Blood pressure and cholesterol usually drop significantly within 1 month after quitting alcohol, and symptoms of cirrhosis of the liver are reduced. Dyslipidemia will also be significantly improved and alcoholic fatty liver will be reduced within 3 months after quitting. Within 9 months to a year after quitting alcohol, the level of liver metabolism will be significantly enhanced compared to that before quitting, the body’s detoxification ability will be improved, concentration and sleep quality will be subsequently improved, and the chances of developing cirrhosis and liver cancer will be greatly reduced. In addition, patients need to pay attention to vitamin, folic acid, protein and other substances in the process of quitting alcohol, and reduce the intake of fatty foods.
