Does esophageal cancer have symptoms in early stage?

Esophageal cancer is asymptomatic in its early stages. Although early lesions can be detected by endoscopy, the patient may not notice anything. When patients can detect some symptoms, such as discomfort after eating, burning sensation, tingling and difficulty in swallowing, the disease has mostly progressed to the middle or middle to late stage. Doctors recommend that people with risk factors undergo endoscopic screening in advance for early detection and treatment. Risk factors include patients over 40 years of age and those with a direct family history of esophageal cancer within three generations. All of these people should undergo endoscopic screening regardless of whether they have symptoms or not. If early detection can be achieved, doctors can remove the early lesion directly through gastroscopy and preserve the esophagus.
