Plantar fasciitis is often treated non-surgically (conservatively). This includes medication, physiotherapy, icing and massage, which can relieve pain and improve function.
This can be combined with orthopaedic insoles and stretching exercises to reduce the tension in the fascia of the plantar area and restore the strength of the plantar muscles and the elasticity of the fascia.
Patients who do not do well with non-surgical treatment may opt for surgical treatment or local closure treatment depending on the doctor’s assessment.
