What is abdominal liposarcoma?

Liposarcoma of the abdominal cavity is a malignant tumor, a common soft tissue tumor in adults, which originates from undifferentiated mesenchymal cells in the perivascular, subcorporeal, and intermuscular spaces, and consists mainly of cells at different stages of differentiation from preadipocytes to mature adipocytes. The cause of abdominal liposarcoma is not yet clear, and may be related to trauma, hematoma, viral infection, and radiation therapy, etc., and in a smaller number of patients, it may be a malignant transformation of lipoma. Most patients do not have specific manifestations, but when the tumor becomes larger, it may invade or extrude the surrounding organs, and then there will be corresponding clinical symptoms. Patients should pay attention to intra-abdominal liposarcoma and cooperate with doctors for surgical resection as soon as possible after discovery, and give systemic treatments such as radiotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy to improve the cure rate and prognosis of the disease. It is suggested that patients should follow the doctor’s instructions, and their family members should coordinate with the patients to construct good dietary and living habits, actively communicate with the doctor, and go to the hospital for regular checkups.
